Paws facility site plan

A calm, well-organised facility is essential to animal welfare. This plan shows our boarding, cattery, grooming, veterinary and exercise zones, plus areas with restricted access for biosecurity. Knowing the layout, and the rules for each zone, is essential before you work with any animal in our care.

1,850 m² 64 inpatient suites On-site vet clinic 24/7 supervised care
Biosecurity is everyone's responsibility.

Always observe the colour-coded zones. Wash and sanitise hands between animal-only areas, use dedicated equipment per block, and never move animals between isolation, the kennels and the cattery without sign-off.

Aerial site plan of the Paws facility grounds. A car park with accessible bays runs along the top of the site. Below it, a landscaped access road separates the car park from the main building row: the Vet Clinic on the left, Grooming in the centre, and Retail / Boarding Reception on the right. The next row holds Isolation, the Kennels block, Food Prep and the Cattery. Below that, a fenced Exercise Yard with agility equipment sits beside Laundry and Storage. Paved paths and garden beds connect every building. A full text version of this plan follows below the image.

The Facility Manager oversees four service areas, each with its own lead: Veterinary Services under the Head Veterinarian, Nursing & Support Services under the Nurse Manager, Grooming Services under the Grooming Salon Lead, and Retail & Boarding Services, which is split between a Retail Supervisor and a Kennel & Cattery Supervisor.

Policies & procedures

Policies set the high-level rules; procedures spell out how to do the work step-by-step: from animal handling and welfare to biosecurity and WHS. Read these carefully: your ACM20121 Certificate II in Animal Care assessments and the animals' wellbeing both depend on them.

Position descriptions

Each role at Paws has a written position description outlining its key duties, accountabilities, and the skills required: from the entry-level and support roles most of the team work in, like Animal Attendant, Veterinary Nurse and Veterinary Technician, through to the Senior and Junior Veterinarians, the Nurse Manager and the Head Veterinarian they report to. Use these to prepare for interviews, performance reviews, and your ACM20121 Certificate II in Animal Care assessments.
